About

In Matthew 6, towards the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus speaks about anxiety. In one of Scripture’s most comforting passages, Jesus tells his listeners to observe the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. The birds do not gather up food into barns, nor do the lilies of the field toil for clothing. Yet God provides for them. If God so intricately cares and watches over the birds and the grass, then how much more will He provide for those made in His own image (Gen.2:26-27)? Do not be anxious, but rather trust God (Ps. 9:10). Christ says to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matt. 6:33). Life will throw a lot our way. Hardships and suffering will come. Jobs will be lost, family members will pass away, friends will betray us, and finances will seem to leave us hopeless. But worry not for those things, says Jesus. Instead, use your energy to seek after God. This applies for the good times too. When the good days come, the command remains the same: Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Seeking God’s Kingdom comes in many shapes and sizes, and it’s not always easy. In a lot of ways, it is intertwined with the command from Paul to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5). This blog is one young man’s attempt to look at the many different ways in which we seek first God’s kingdom and take every thought captive. Whether it be sitting in church, watching our favorite movie, spending a night out with friends, reading a new book, or just sitting in our house spending time to ourselves, how can we seek God first? If God is first, then His Word will speak into every aspect of our lives.

I’ve also included a bit of fun writing from time to time about things I simply love, like superheroes or movies or whatever else I feel like because, well, this is my website so I can do as I please 🙂
